Cook Islands Weather
THE TROPICAL Cook Islands Climate will embrace you on your South Pacific holiday. The islands offer warm weather summer or winter and the ocean breezes moderate the humidity. Air conditioned accommodation is available at many resorts, hotels and villas, though the overhead fans are often the nicest way to keep cool. Remember that the clear ocean waters and lagoons are usually just steps away - providing a perfect spot to take a cool dip at any time of the day.
Although there is little variation in daily temperature or annual temperature, there are two seasons - winter and summer. The 'winter' months fall approximately between May and October and the cooling trade winds blow from the south-east. Bring a light wrap as it can come in handy during the evening, especially if you dine in an air-conditioned restaurant. The 'summer' months fall between November and April, with more moist winds blowing from the north-west. This is the season of higher humidity and higher temperatures. However, it is also the season when the flowers are at their best.
The Cook Islands has a beautiful climate year round. Rainfall, however, is more prevalent during the summer months. Cyclones are not always experienced, but if they occur, they do occur during the summer months. Travel Insurance is always useful and if you are concerned about inclement weather, it is particularly advisable to take out travel insurance if you travel to the Cook Islands during the summer, in case of flight delays, cancellations etc.
